CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER: WWTP

The Project Manager will be a crucial player on this local team in Lancaster, PA. This person will oversee all aspects of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation on projects within 1-2 hours of Lancaster. The right person will be responsible to forge relationships with clients, architects, engineers, construction managers, brokers, and subcontractors. This person must have industrial experience with Wastewater or Clean Water Treatment plant new construction or retrofits.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise construction progress and directly manage field operations.
  • Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule.
  • Understand and implement purchase orders with vendors and suppliers.
  • Understand and implement subcontract agreements.
  • Manage the Requests for Information, Potential Change Orders, Clarifications, etc. as they pertain to the project documents.
  • Conduct safety inspections and implement Company Safety Program and training.
  • Implement Quality Assurance and Quality Control documents.
  • Review and process As-Built drawings.
  • Manage material and equipment logistics and maintain project inventory.
  • Maintain effective and professional relationships with owners, engineers, and contractors.
  • Coordinate meeting agendas and prepare meeting minutes when required.
  • Evaluate submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples, and take appropriate action based on contract documents.
  • Communicate with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors using computer software to weigh production risks
  • Compile reports and make presentations to project leaders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar would be a huge plus
  • Specific experience with Wastewater or Clean Water Treatment Plants is required for this position
    • e., knowledge of new WWTP builds, clean water builds, retrofit of old/existing plants, equipment swap-outs, expansion/additions of existing facilities etc.
  • Experience in both the public AND private sector is a huge plus for the right candidate to be considered
  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in Construction Project Management for a General Contractor is highly preferred
  • Experienced working for a company that does self-performed work
  • Experience with structural concrete, pipe and mechanical systems required.
  • Effective computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficient with Construction Software i.e. – Microsoft Project, Procore, Google Documents/Drive, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented and organized leadership.
  • The ability to visit projects 1-2 times/week up to 2 hours away from Lancaster, PA

Compensation

  • Strong base salary from $85,000 – $105,000/year dependent on Project Portfolio

  • Experienced working for a company that does self-performed work

  • Construction Estimating experience is a huge plus to be considered for this role

SUPERINTENDENT

Compensation: commensurate with experience.
We are currently seeking a superintendent who is capable of managing individuals as well as bringing whole projects to fruition. Ideally this individual would have experience delegating tasks, managing materials, methods of construction, and interfacing with designers and architects.
Experience with wastewater treatment plants is highly desirable.

  • Understanding of and experience with processes typically used by subcontractors

 CONTROLLER

Compensation: commensurate with experience.

Wickersham Construction, Inc. is looking for an experienced Controller who has 5+ years of experience in construction accounting. The Controller will lead the accounting functions of the company and will oversee a small accounting staff.  This position requires strong analytical, communication and organization skills. The Controller will also be directly responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures including bank and general ledger reconciliation, month-end close, preparing financial statements and other accounting duties that provide accurate financial information to be placed in the general ledger.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

What you will do:

  • Oversee and understand the payroll process, including processing weekly office payroll through a third-party service
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of work in process including: Contract review and authorization; prevailing wage, change orders; application of burden to labor; job cost tracking; calculation of over/under billings, etc.
  • Utilize AIA worksheets for monthly billing and job tracking, including coordination of review and updates with project managers
  • Review contracts/billings to and from subcontractors
  • Review annual insurance contracts and coverage including negotiation of appropriate fees charged
  • Work with bonding agent and provide applicable financial reports, as needed
  • Create, perform and approve journal entries and accruals, and reconcile accounts for the monthly and annual closing
  • Analyze the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies for imbalances
  • Oversee bank, investment accounts and various property accounts.
  • Validate journal entries and invoice payments.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants, banks, bonding companies and others, as needed.
  • Review general ledger accounts and prepare and adjust journal entries.
  • Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Non degreed candidate will be considered if experience is equivalent
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience with work in process, job costing, calculation of percentage completion
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience working with account reconciliations and the month-end close process
  • Ability to comprehend, retain, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment, work independently, make decisions, and maintain detailed information
  • Must be able to effectively set priorities
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects , while maintaining shifting demands of the business
  • Recognize issues and escalate to management team as necessary
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software, as well as  Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite products
  • The ability to work from the office at all times
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.

CARPENTER FOREMAN

Compensation: commensurate with experience.
Our experienced team of Carpenter Foremen are experts in carpentry and concrete, working within a large variety of major commercial markets local to the Lancaster, PA area.

  • Completely understands all of a carpenter’s and laborer’s duties and skills
  • Reads and interprets up-to-date plans and specifications
  • Estimates materials and labor needed for construction in coordination with others, and advises the Superintendent
  • Follows OM instructions on the installation of materials and equipment
  • Knowledge of rigging practices
  • Concrete forming, framing, doors, hardware, rough finish carpentry, pour/finish concrete, pipe installation
  • Understands basic concepts and methods used by subcontractors
  • Motivates subordinates, subcontractors, and others for top performance
  • Instructs and trains employees, subcontractors, and others in approved methods of construction
  • Leads fellow employees by example
  • Delegates responsibilities to subordinates and is responsible for their performance
  • Responsible for establishing and enforcing safety measures
  • Establishes quality control standards and supervises their implementation
  • Order, inspect, and verify the quantity and quality of materials and supplies
  • Acts as a liaison between Wickersham and others
  • Solves problems and works with employees to complete required tasks
  • Makes quick, accurate decisions and takes responsibility for decisions
  • Attends seminars and training sessions for continuous improvement
  • Maintains a high degree of integrity and loyalty towards Wickersham and works with others for the same
  • Responsible for maintenance and care of tools, equipment, and vehicles

HEAVY CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER

Compensation: $18 – $36/hr.
Our experienced team of heavy construction carpenters are experts in carpentry and concrete, working within a large variety of major commercial markets local to the Lancaster, PA area.

Responsibilities:

  • General tradesmen and construction duties including but not limited to: carpentry, wall framing, door framing, door and hardware installation finish carpentry, drywall, painting concrete, rigging, piping, equipment setting and heavy equipment operation
  • Possess the ability to understand and execute work related instructions and methods
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity and supporting member of the entire Wickersham team
  • Maintenance and care of tools, equipment, and other company property
  • Wears and maintains proper safety equipment as required
  • Push, pull, and load/unload tools, equipment, and materials
  • Carries and uses trade associated tools, equipment, and materials up to a weight of 95 pounds
  • Working at heights within confined or enclosed spaces as necessary to the job
  • Additional duties assigned by supervisor
